Kungfu Dunk

Yesterday we went to 1 Utama as we wanted to watch Kungfu Dunk at TGV Cinemas. Sadly, the version of Kungfu Dunk still on screening is the Cantonese version, that means we will be unable to hear Jay Chou's real voice. Anyway, we decided to watch it anyway XD

Before the movie began, we had a bit of time, so we went to MPH. And... MPH is HAVING A SALE!!! Only until 2nd of March, members get 15% discount on all books while non-members get 10% discount on all books. Rush over now to get a book you wanted to get for a long time but couldn't afford it!!!

Disclaimer: I'm not paid to advertise for MPH Bookshop.

Now back to talking about Kungfu Dunk.

We missed the beginning of the movie thou as we dawdled a bit too long at MPH. Anyway, the movie is surprisingly better than expected. Jay Chou's voice was dubbed but you'll barely realise it in the movie. The effects weren't too shabby either, pretty convincing and have tons of cool stunts and slam dunks. Enjoyed tons of laugh and heartfelt moments in the movie. The story was about how an orphaned guy played basketball incorporate with his kungfu skills as a way to find his parents. That's all the summary I'll slip out (basically I'm lazy to type it out =__=). You can just search it at wikipedia^^

Some scenes from the movie

Fang Shi Jie(Jay Chou) looking cute XD

First basketball match (Don't be fooled by these pictures, all the basketball scenes were quite fast-paced, sadly it doesn't seem to show in the picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

SLAM DUNK!!!

Another plus point of the movie, the heroin is not the clingy annoying over pretty type which you'll feel like strangling everything she make an appearance (Thank God!). In the movie, the heroin was a nerdy but cute looking girl~

Li-Li(Charlene Choi) with Fang Shi Jie (Jay Chou)

Did I mentioned that me and Pei might had created a new record in saying the most consecutive number of 'cool' in a single movie. Almost every few minutes or even seconds (hehe), we were saying "cool'...cause basically, most of the scenes are really cool with perfectly well choreograph basketball action.

And, mainly...we didn't know until we watched the movie...there are two other uber-cool and cute guys besides Jay Chou in it!!!! Wahahaha (Believe me, I didn't watch the movie to stare at cute guys (=___=)!
T.T Can't find really nice pictures of them, Baron Chen and Chen Bo-Lin to post here..

Anyway, the movie is quite satisfying with plenty of stunts to satisfy die-hard basketball fans yet just enough not to make bore off people that don't really take much interest in basketball. After this movie, I swore I convert myself into a basketball fan cause it's just so COOOOOOOOL!!!!! Mwahahahaha... yes, you can see I loved the movie a lot XD

"Paranormal activities " reporting from My Place

Okay, honestly, this isn't REALLY an entry about paranormal events. This is just a compilation of a bunch of happenings that have put me and Betsy off or are thought provoking to us, in a bad way. Nothing serious here, so, please bear with the undeniable lameness and randomness of this entry.

Case 1:

Sightings of a new species of water-human creatures:

Just when you thought you could spend a nice afternoon doing your homework ,catching up with your studies or just getting some shut-eye, these nightmares appear.

(I don't think the scientists have discovered this guys yet.)

I wonder if they'd feel violated that I took a picture of them...anyway, they're a noisy bunch, consisting mostly of boys who come out during odd hours- usually in the evening but sometimes even at midnight. They enjoy squealing like girls at the most inappropriate times (usually when you're trying to figure out how to do this really difficult maths question, and I mean REALLY difficult...), splashing around in the water REAL loudly and acting gay. WORSE OF ALL, They've been doing this ever since we moved here, probably even before we moved here.

They come in groups, big or small, almost everyday. However, they are not to be mistaken with the other residents of My Place apartment who just go to the pool for relaxation purposes, this new species can be easily identified by their shrill, exotic sounding cries. The people in the groups probably vary but we're not sure. They all sound the same.-_-

Sorry Heath Ledger, hope you're doing well in heaven

Okay, I'm just mad at them cause they're a tad inconsiderate when it comes to preserving a peaceful environment for residents of My Place apartments.

And I thought boys usually play football.

Case 2:

Thinking skills just got even more screwed

Nothing new there. But, seriously, our class did a past year question whereby the answer said that " human society would disintegrate without queuing". How over dramatised is that?? Imagine if mankind failed to queue up one day...

GASP. utter chaos.

Hey. Stuff like this happens all the time in Malaysia but we're still standing.

.......

I meant the not queuing up part.

CASE 3: Boyfriends-they're really just friends

One day when Betsy and I were walking back to our apartment, we saw two boys playing badminton. As a natural reaction, (trust me, it's an even more natural reaction for me) Betsy said "gay" .

Sniggers.

Suddenly, just around the corner, two more boys appeared jogging side by side. Weird. They were followed closely by 2 other boys who were also running together. Betsy and I exchanged looks of astonishment. I started laughing.

But we REALLY started laughing when we saw 2 other boys in the swimming pool, only 2 of them, swimming very closely to each other. And all this happened while we were walking a few metres towards our apartment.Boys running and swimming in pairs?? Very weird to us. But we enjoyed a good laugh although we knew very well they were probably just friends, working out, doing the stuff that guys do. Or were they?

>8D Hehe.

Anyway, that sums up our paranormal activities for this week. Hope this entry didn't bore you too much. I'm off to look for more interesting things to do...ciao.

Spice spice baby

Haro, pei here! Have you guys heard of The World Maths day? Those sleeping at home everyday and don't contact their friends probably don't know la...huhu..that's means you pisang *glint*

Anyway, The World Math's Day will be on the 5th of March! Their aim is to make a World Record by having students from all over the world unite, and i mean ALL OVER THE WORLD, to answer mental arithmetic questions on one day! This year they plan to break last year's record by having everyone answer a total of 50 million questions!! Sounds interesting? Be part of this wonderful event (they should pay me for this), it's quite simple actually, the answers are only in 1 or 2 digits, so there aren't really any challenging questions. You have to race against time and others to win!

But first, you have to register here:

Just register yourself and have fun!!! Man, I'm getting frickin' nerdy now, Betsy's addicted to the World Maths Day website....all thanks to our maths teacher, now our whole class is gonna join. >.<

Oh yea, have you guys heard the Spice Girls new song-Headlines (friendship never ends)? It doesn't sound too bad, it's just like the old Spice Girs, but the video sux big time....I advice you to listen to the song before watching the video...here's the youtube link:

The video's sponsored by Victoria's Secret, which explains why Victoria Beckham was flaunting evrything..-_- not a very pleasant sight..

BBQ Party!

On Thursday, we had our Bio test and Physics test today. Damn, it was really tough... my brain can never go back the same way. After the 'suffering period', we had something to look forward to. Our very first class activity, BBQ! Organised by Denisa and Aabhi, thanks a lot for the great bbq =)

Here is the BBQ stove stocked full of charcoal, ready to be burned!

Was quite 'messy' at certain parts since it was kinda last minute and a lot of stuffs were forgotten. Our classmates were rushing here and there trying to get stuffs for the BBQ (the guys only XD).

Took a long while to get everything into place and the food is ready to be barbequed^^.

Our pro organisers and chefs-to-be:

Denisa

Aabhi
Observe the tasty food on the BBQ stove *drools*

A lot of food were prepared, marinated chicken, got two kinds.. marinated beef, sausage, marinated lamb (Pei claimed it was reallyyyyy good)and abalone mushroom (it's just the name, not really what you thinking =_=). For drinks, they were cold Ribena, weird huh? Not bad, anyway prefer it to carbonated drinks as carbonated drinks + BBQ food = cancer... haha, i don't want to die yet!

Here's the marinated BBQ-ed chicken.. tasty? Taste better than it looks! Seriously! If not, I won't eat until I'm super stuffed...

Our class rep, Harinder was late..fashionably late some might say. And with her...she brought...MARSHMALLOWS! Then, we began putting marshmallows on skewers to roast slowly... and it slowly melts in your mouth once it is done roasted.. slight hard on the outside...but all soft, chewy and gooey on the inside..mmm..

See the glow coming from the marshmallow...really tempting you..

*sigh* I didn't roast marshmallows thou.. scare my contacts melt from the heat >_>

Here's some of our classmates..the most obvious person you can see in the picture is Eshrina (grey shirt) and our class rep, Harinder at the right hand corner.. (it's taken with my phone... can't expect really good quality images)

OMG! Gay!!!! Aabhi and Esteban was trying to act gay together..!

The group of girls sitting at the side tables waiting for food to be BBQ-ed and served. Me and Pei was not one of them, Pei was busy cutting up the meat the guys BBQ-ed, she enjoyed doing that O.O... while... I was....taking the food immediately once Pei done cutting XD

After awhile, everyone was starting to complain about it becoming too dark.. Seng Chao to the rescue! See he lighted a candle for the "girl's table".

Something I must definietly blogged about.. Piau's mushrooms... He 'poked' around 10 mushrooms into a skewer just to experiment for fun at first, with a tiny sprinkle of salt, butter and some 'herbs thingy'. The verdict...REALLY YUMMY! For the mushrooms, me and Ana was standing at the side and tried to be the very first to grab it. The mushrooms were such a big hit that it ran out earlier than all the meat..see... my class, PM1 eats our veggies and have a balance diet XD

Aaaah...mushroom!

Not long, finally I felt tired n gave in (my stomach was stuffed^^) and joined the rest of the girls at the table. There were a lot of girl's casual talk and such..until the part where we heard screams.. turned out..another class (which were also having BBQ at that time) was playing with a outdoor shower thingy. You pull at a string and water come rushing out.. basically, looks and functions exactly the same as the shower we usually have in our bathrooms. There kept screaming liked they never see water in their lives before.. So Mavis (classmate) couldn't resist herself and started saying LOUDLY "Oooooo, H20.. I thought we can only get it in the lab!".. in a really sarcastic tone. Man, we couldn't stop laughing.. most probably it's the you-have-to-be-there-to-laugh-joke.

During that time, almost all the girls were already gathering at the table chatting away. The guys were gathered at another table playing "chor dai di" =_=. Only a few were still left BBQ-ing... especially Aabhi. He was BBQ-ing the whole night away, in the end, he seemed so professional in doing that and flipped the meat like it was the most natural thing in the world. All of us wanted to sign a petition for Aabhi to stop cooking and EAT!

Mouth-watering yet?

Soon, the guys also joined the girl's table and we started to tell lame but funny jokes. Dhas was telling everyone that earlier that day, they (the guys) went to a cyber cafe to play an online game. Suppose to be a team game and Aabhi was in his team. When the game started, Dhas immediately died.. feeling pissed off, Dhas was asking who killed him... that time, Aabhi was so happily waving his hand shouting,"I killed you, I killed you!". Aabhi thought the game was everyone was his enemy. When the game started, he just killed everyone in sight. LOL XD Dhas swore he will never play online games with Aabhi ever again!

Then, we moved on to telling racist jokes (no one in the class minded although we're multi-racial hehe).

Then, another person was asking, what's the difference between falling from the 1st floor and the 15th floor?

1st floor goes "SPLATTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!"... 15th floor goes " AHHHHH, SPLATTTTTTT!".
And because of this joke, Michelle(super smart girl) was talking about that when you fall from the 20th floor, you will achieved terminal velocity! LOL, it seemed funny at that moment. Or all of us was attacked by laughing gas, we kept laughing at every simple joke said or even not-funny-stuffs! Miss Lim (physics lecturer) will be so proud to hear what you said Michelle!

Not long, Dhas was suggesting for ghost stories to be told. The girls were mostly the one protesting the idea! Mavis was protesting the most..she was like saying "No way! I'm sleeping alone tonight!". Then Dhas replied her, " You mean you sleep with someone every other night?". XDXD
And Mavis was furious and wanted to kill Dhas!

A picture tells a hundred words

Well, anyway.. all of us certainly had lots of fun! I never had this fun in a party for a really long time or even laughed so much non-stop=) This will be one night I'll never ever want to forget. Million of thanks to Denisa and Aabhi for organising the BBQ!

Pretty soft light glowing from the candles
Night!

Near-death experience! GOT BOMB!

Title caught your attention?!!
First, I must tell you that the title is... TRUE!!!!!

Yesterday at INTI college, right next to Taylor's, a bomb was discovered. Then, this happened

Fine, just joking.

Honestly, there were rumours about a bomb implanted at INTI and circulating that terrorists did it. Before long, police cars and ambulances were at the scene to investigate... created a hell lot of ruckus and chaos. Traffic jam, ambulance sirens and poor INTI students sitting at sidewalks as they're evacuated from the college compound. Anyway, we should be thankful that a bomb weren't discover. Back at our room, me and Pei was laughing about the bomb and our near-death experiece. Little did we knew, we were going to experience almost the same thing today...

Around 2.15PM

At Biology Lab 2

Today we did an experience to investigate the distribution of catalase in a soaked pea and to determine the different temperatures on its activity. Sounds boring? Ya, you're right! Then, that 'incident' changed everything! That near-death 'incident'!

A group was heating water to prepare as a water bath for the peas.

Observe the image below properly.

There's two openings for gas to come out, one with a tube already and attached to the Bunsen burner. Another is unattached. It was supposed to be like that, and gas weren't suppose to leak out from there! However, it did happened O.O

Scary, isn't it?
Fine, I suck at photoshop (=________=)The real fire that time was really big, seemed like can easily burned down the Biology Lab!

I wanted to catch the picture of the real gas leakage fire with my phone, but Pei was panicking. She really thought she going to die as she thought the gas tank would explode! She was muttering loudly "RUN!!!!!". And even pulled me back from the fire to prevent me taking a picture..... At that time, our whole class was stunned, everyone seemed like grew roots from their feet firmly into the ground, except me and Ana (classmate), both of us was trying to take a picture haha.

Before we knew it, the fire suddenly put off by itself...
Turns out the lab assistant off the main gas tank.
And the chaos died down.

After that "near-death" experience, back to the boring experiment. Everyone was taking precautions heating the water bath. While me and Pei was heating, we panicked slightly as well, cause of the strong gas smell. Thank god, wasn't another leakage!

Finally we completed our experiment!

Then, we had egg for lunch.

Tasty?

Nah, it's was actually our results, effervesence of squashed peas when added hydrogen peroxide. Makes you feel hungry all over!

YO! Damn expensive punya SUSHI!!!

How come I have to post again???? 0A0 The last post took so long, Blogger got problem sial..now, we'll make you read more " The Adventures of Shwu Pei and Betsy" or...er..."The Adventures of Betsy and Shwu Pei"!!! Whichever sounds better to you:

On one fine saturday, Betsy's father came up to KL to pass her glasses to her. Mm-hmm. Usually when he comes up, that means more loitering for us, hehe... >.< He's really nice, I feel as though we're always troubling him.Haha. *swt* Yea, that's the truth.

Today, Stephanie and her friend Xia Hui (not sure of spelling), joined us for a day of loitering at Megamall! Not surprisingly, we spent almost 2 hours in MPH, just looking for books. Just as we entered MPH, Stephanie suddenly dissapeared. Eh?? We went around looking for her for a good 10 minutes.(well, it felt that long)Finally, we discovered her at the Fantasy section. She didn't even know we were watching her. Muaha. Time for revenge. I stood close behind her until I could breath down her neck, for about a minute. After some time, Stephanie turned around and "WAHHH!!!" lolz. You should've been there. Soon after that, we all dispersed to look for books of interest.

At the end of the day, I bought a book which I've been longing to buy for sometime: Anne's Rice "A Cry to Heaven", it costed like RM 39.20 or something. Betsy bought a box set consisting of 3 books from Jodi Picoult entitled "Vanishing Acts", "Perfect Match" and "My Sister's Keeper" which only costed RM 69.90. She also got "The Memory Keeper's Daughther" written by Kim Edwards-RM 35.90. So now, we have even more books to read...so many things to do..so little time...

Cry to Heaven by Anne Rice

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult

Perfect match by Jodi Picoult

Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards

Then we went shopping....for jewelery, accessories, more books, and hats. Betsy bought a new glittery strawberry hairclip. It's a seriously glittery thang.Imagine if she stand underneath the sun...*shine~~* and she also got the complete set of NANA the anime from Niko-Niko-Doh. Yea, did she mention that she's caught the NANA fever? after that, we went to this japanese fashion boutique called "Momoe" where we tried 80% of the hats in there and walked out empty handed. XD However, Betsy found what the hat she wanted at "Plastic", they also had this uber cool brown leather-ish bracelet with huge metal rings and chains wound around it. When you put it on your wrist, the chains sorta dangle across your hand. It was so cool..but it costed RM 29.20. So, we left with Betsy's communist-ish hat which costed RM49.90.(see her profile picture)Oh, and next time your wallets feeling stuffed and your wardrobe's feeling empty, just head over to "Miss Whatever". They have the coolest accessories and clothing if you like the rebellious style.

After lepak until cukup, we went for dinner at this place called YOSushi. They have almost the same system as Sushi King except..they have this really cool thing which Sushi King cannot compete with, that is~~~!!!!:

Ta-da~~!! A bell!! If you need anything just press it! "Miss, more ice please!" "Miss, another plate please!" "Miss, your handphone number please!" XDD

Oh yea, they also have this cool menu! Sushi King raise white flag!

Betsy and I ordered Chicken Yakisoba which cost RM 10 cause we had to watch our budget! We had Kimgary for lunch, so...And when they brought the Yakisoba to our table. It was-

really

really

REALLY

SMALL.

Geram or not, but it managed to sustain me till the end of the day. Verdict of the day: Go YOSushi only if you're planning to make yourself broke.

Yay!! Tomodachi!!! left: Xia Hui Right: Stephanie They're just shy...

Oh wait, if it wasn't for the world's best creampuffs that i had for supper, I probably wouldn't be able to stand the next day. Try BeardPapa! They claim to make the world's best cream puffs!! And it's quite good too!

Beardpapa's cream puffs

Food is good.

Ice cream, mice, mi sedap, and snakes make a yummy day

Ya..I know I almost never post....so I'm back, for a while! Kay, this is a review of what happened today!! Please read on...

Today, after class, I went straight to the ECA to attend the Newsletter Club meeting because I'll be auditioning to be one of the head graphic designers...(wish me good luck, with no computer, scanner or tablet now... >_<")They'll be forming a whole new team with the 2008 batch of students. The editor and her team seemed nice enough, the meeting went quite well too. By the way,the magazine has 6 issues per year and the theme for the coming issue (MARCH/APRIL) will be "How to", yea, it might be interesting! I can't wait for it to be published! XDDD

After that, I came home exhausted around 2.10 p.m. and I had mi sedap for lunch, yum.( I don't always do this) Then, I had to go for the anime club meeting at 3pm. But Tsu Fei (our housemate) asked if we wanted to follow her to One Utama. Since it's quite rare for her to drive on friday, naturally I went: "Oh, screw the anime club meeting!!!" Soon enough we were leaving for One Utama....

So, we had lunch(again) at Old Town, their chicken ham and cheese polo bun thingy is not bad, sorry, no pictures...XP then..while we were waiting for the food in our stomachs to digest, we came across a nice ice cream shop: DQ Julius. It's a franchise and they sell this ice cream called "Blizzard", cool name...even cooler serving style. It's served upside down! Serious!! They had the poster there, sorry, no pictures again...the guy turned it back real fast k?? We couldn't have taken the picture anyway!!

Mmm...blizzard, just imagine it upsidedown...

Anyway, the ice cream is delicious, it has this creamy and yet smooth texture, it wasn't too milky either. Go try it some time!

Later, while we were loitering around the mall, we came across this counter seling tickets for a repile show. Interesting. Student price was only RM 5.So, we bought tickets hoping to be entertained.
The exhibition contained about 100 different species of reptiles including snakes, lizards and little crocodiles. There were also some spiders, tortoises and mammals.

Here's some pictures that's been SIRIM chopped:

Snake in water

A pretty albino-ish snake

Yellow snake, what d'you expect me to say??

Monitor lizards I think, they're pretty huge

Spider~~!!! Muahahaha!!

Long necked tortoise..freaky..

This is pretty fugly, be thankful you can't see this clearly

A lazy iguana...dunno dead or alive

A white monkey, it looks really human, seriously, poor thing...

A cute red fox...aww...

AWWWW....lazy lizard..!! Squee~~!!XDD

Snake feed ><

Coming out of the closet

Another pretty snake

Two squirrels...

Okay, that's all the pictures for now, there are two videos though, one features a snake eating a rat and another a snake charming act. But we probably won't upload them coz' we don't feel like it ...muahaha...or maybe we will someday..but not for now.

Hold on, there's one more thing before I have to say before I conclude our adventure at the reptile exhibition: PLEASE RESPECT ANIMALS, PEOPLE!If you do, then good for you , but if you don't practice this, please reconsider the effect of your actions!! At the exhibition we saw this middle-aged man and his wife acting like little kids! There was a squirrel sleeping in it's nest in a cage but the man kept tapping on the cage and blowing into the squirrel's nest to annoy it, just for his and his wife's entertainment. They sure had a good time laughing their heads off. I would've told him off if I was more fluent in my chinese or cantonese...grrr....Since people nowadays are better educated on animal rights, please help avoid things like this from happening!

Just to finish this off, here's a funny signboard we saw while eating at the food court in SS/2:

Just in case you don't know, it's upside down. YEA.

Pei
