Exploring Science

Last Friday, we had a trip to PetroSAINS, for outstation students that were interested. My eyes literally light up when I first heard of it, cause
1. You only need to pay RM7 for trip to KLCC n back.
2. I can sneak to Kinokuniya if I'm bored of PetroSAINS.
3. I can miss Chemistry period.
Enough said.

Well, total only 15 of us went.. 6 were from my class (PM1).
The first 'attraction' in Petrosains is we'll be entering the place by a 'train-like-round-black-blob' thingy.
And then, we saw something that let you experience the speed of the wind in an enclosed place, starting form 0km/h reaching until 160km/h!
Things still look calm for me, Adelynn and Pei

At this point, our hair literally 'rise'

Moving on!

The transparent tube suppose to be vacuum, look at the colourful patterns form when our hands touch the tube haha.

And things aren't always what they seems... The thing is there, but when we touched it, it disappeared.

It's seems to be there but actually it's not there.. Reminds me of my allowance. Sometimes I could had sworn I had at least RM50 left, but when I look in my purse, it's not there... *sighs*

Look at Pei, see her pose...*swt*... We are on top a mini jeep!

Next, here’s a picture of our class with the T-rex. Everyone agreed to take a group pic here... well, T-rex is lovable right?

The T-rex seemed want to bite my head off...*scare*

Next section, we entered our second childhood. The section mainly dedicate to kids as most of it are quite ‘un-science’ related.

Here’s Pei and Xin Wei racing dinosaurs *swt*

By now, most of you probably think I’m lazy to blog as more to pictures and only a few words to describe each of it. Well, that’s true^^ *gets thrown rotten tomatoes*
Haha, continue.. The next picture is at the ‘more to teenagers’ section. We had the most fun here!!
This device is really cool. When you stand on it and press ‘GO’, it will start to tilt until you fall... thank god got soft protection to break your fall..

Xin Wei and Esteban competing to see who will fall first... the device meant for one person at a time... >_>

Here’s something that was really fun. A skiing stimulator. You have to bend your body forward to see yourself skiing at the screen, and there were also wind blowing at your face to make it seemed more real life.

Looks nice?^^

There were also a device where it can measured the speed of your karate chop!! Haha.. *sorry no pictures for it*

And present to you, the most amazing mind game in the world. Involve two players at a time. Both of them have to wear a headband. In the middle of the two players, there will be a ball... If you relax your mind, the brain waves generated can move the ball towards your opponent.

Esteban and Xin Wei competing again... *swt*.. lasted a freaking long ten minutes... both of them must be genius.....

Something that caught my attention.

Cute colourful balls floating and moving at the ceiling^^

The last game I managed to play before had to leave PetroSAINS. Suppose to meet up with the teachers already. The Slide Of Doom.

I scraped my hand while playing this, but it’s worth it!

As we were leaving the science centre, we were suppose to sit back the ‘'train-like-round-black-blob' thingy again. At this point, we were already ten minutes late... During the ride, we were quite ‘jakun’.. we keep going ‘waaahhhh’. We were surrounded by the dark and the ceiling was a night scenery showing stars. To remember the moment, we decided to took a picture.. We weren’t allow to take a picture on the train ride, but rules are made to be broken right?

It was quite difficult to take it as the train has limited space and it was rotating and moving. Aabhi (the photographer) had to lean on the edge to snap the picture.
After taking, we realised there was a CCTV. All of us waved to it haha. We really gave a bad impression for Taylor's students >_<

When we finally reached the exit, we found out we weren’t the last! Well *camera out*, time to take pictures again!

The boys can pose better than the girls O_O

Needless to say, I really enjoyed the trip. Gained tons of fun.. *ahem*.. I mean tons of knowledge.

[Note: Blogger is retarded, the second time I have to retype the whole thing cause suddenly auto delete... GIVE BACK MY TIME!]

Permanent classroom, Birthdays and Practical jokes

Hello people! From yesterday onwards, we were required to stay in a permanent classroom- C13,because the other students are in the middle of their exams now. So, every morning, we have to walk/climb/crawl up to the third floor. It's high school all over again. But, it's not that bad, I guess...we don't have to walk so much anymore (if that's a good thing), and the air conditioner here is only half working, so we don't have to bring our jackets! Yay! XD

Anyway, today we celebrated our classmate, Eshrina's birthday! She turns 18 this year! Happy Birthday, girl! Our classmates bought her a cake as a surprise, and everyone got a slice of it, how thoughtful of them! XD

Also, today, the boys in class played a practical joke on Dhassareth(a tall boy from our class). They took his Thinking Skills book and gave him one clue how to find it.

"You can hear your book."

I was like " Huh??" So Dhass sat down stared forward , and suddenly without warning, he smacked his forehead and said "Holy shit!!" The boys in the class started laughing like mad. Apparently, he found his book...somebody in class slotted his book behind the speaker on the top right corner of the classroom. It was pretty obvious but we didn't notice it up there at all. Lame~

Dhass is pretty darn tall but he still couldn't reach the book. In the end, Aabhi(the tallest boy and youngest student in our class) had to get it down for him. I suspect Aabhi put it up there in the first place. LOL

Aabhi to the rescue!

Shopping vow!

Yesterday, our housemate brought us for a short visit to 'The Curve' after we had dinner. And the only thing I can say is.. WOW!
The place looks amazing at night, mainly cause it doesn't seem Malaysia at all XD Too bad it was late already, most of the shops started to close.
Well, my favourite part of the place, actually maybe the only part I went to =.=.. An open air place and have restaurants on both your sides while you take a walk down. The beauty is overwhelming, food is so tempting O_____O

The Streets

No idea what this is, but looks nice right?

One of the restaurants along 'The Street' that caught my eye. Looks so country home style, somehow nostalgic.. reminds me of a place I been before!

Something for Transformer fans. There's a robot on display, Optimus Prime. And with it, a sign that showed 'the world's biggest something something'

*not a robot fan*

End. This is a very short post to remind me that I must go back to 'The Curve' soon!!! *shopping fever starting*

Muahahah!! We love freebies~!!!

Yesterday, Seventeen magazine had a sort of roadshow in Taylors. Seems that we get that a lot in college, compared to the Vitagen truck and Milo truck that we wait for during our primary and secondary school years...ah..so nostalgic..!

Anyway, they set up a few booths to promote Seventeen magazine, Fresh Kon contact lenses, Dutch Lady yogurt drink, Lip Ice and some new Adidas products, including their new range of Shampoo and deodorant products. So, you can imagine the kind of response they had from the students...When Betsy and I saw the roadshow going on during the break period, we were temporarily relieved of all forms of fatigue and hunger as we joined the flock of students at the booths.

The first booth that caught our eyes was the Seventeen Booth, they were giving out the January 2008 issue , a Seventeen booklet and little Seventeen Post-Its(These were adorable!)! I've only read Seventeen twice my whole life but they had some article about emo-ness and that made a happy human for awhile! =D

After that, we moved on to the Lipice booth, this was probably the most crowded booth because they were giving out FREE LIPICE PRODUCTS!! Yes!! Serious!! All you had to do is play a game and if you win, you get to spin this little wheel(like the one you see in Wheel of Fortune) and you get whatever product(each product is represented by a different colour)that matches the colour on the side of the wheel. Evidently, there were a lot of girls who cheated...the poor girl at the stand was too busy to eye all three sets of games that were going on at the same time, so when she was looking to the left, people on the right cheated and vice versa. Haiyoh..even we cheated la....=__=" So, Betsy spun the wheel and got a water lip balm..it's a pretty cool thing! We even went back for round 2 after the break period..XDD and each of us won a bottle of roll-on deadorant...lolz...oh well...

The next booth we went to was the Adidas booth, you also had to play a game to win a prize. The guy at the booth probably explained what I could win but I wasn't listening....cuz' the game that I was required to win in was a Nintendo Wii boxing game! All I was thinking was "OMG OMG OMG..A NINTENDO WII~~!!" Lolz..so I registered and put on the Boxing gloves. I had to destroy at least 18 punching bags in one minute to qualify to win a prize. Honestly, that was my first time playing a Nintendo Wii, I was so excited that I didn't care that there were people watching me!! XDD...So the game started and I was punching too slow to win in time, but I got the hang of it after a while. Up till now, I still don't know if you had to hit harder to break the punching bag or if you were supposed to hit the critical point to break it faster... but I was punching so hard near the end of one minute that I was panting away later. XD

By the way, I only got 13 out of 18, haha, better luck next time!!

Look! Betsy secretly took some pictures..argh..I guess it's a good thing that she did..

Ooh~Nintendo Wii~

Take that!!

Haha, I didn't wear the gloves properly so I hurt my hand...a bit of the skin got scraped off...

OUCH

Lolz..today my hands and back are aching all over..this is the result of lack of exercise...Please remind me never to do something lke that without streching first...><

Here are some of the freebies we got!! XD I hope they'll be having more roadshows in the near future!!

I lost my Post-Its somewhere along the way...T_T

Ah Long Pte Ltd Movie Review

Hola people! Today I shall write a review for the Singaporean movie "Ah Long Pte Ltd". This movie is directed by Jack Neo, the man that brought you the "I not stupid", "I not stupid 2" and "Just Follow law". "Ah long Pte Ltd" is probably Jack Neo's first action-comedy movie if I'm not mistaken. Other than that, most of the shooting for the movie took place in Malaysia. The movie is in mandarin, Cantonese, and Hokkien.

Oh yea. This movie is rated 18-PL for some nudity and elements of durian throwin-I mean, VIOLENCE.

This poster makes me go "LULZ" XD

But before I start blabbing, let's read the synopsis of the movie!:

Chen Jun (played by Richard Low) is the leader of Shao He Triad. The story opens with him deciding to “retire” from the triad business. Prior to his retirement, he elects Wang Li Hua (played by Fann Wong), a young but tough girl, as his successor.

Li Hua believes that changes need to be made to the current money lending system. Although Li Hua prioritizes the triad’s success, she is very much against the idea of using violent means to collect debts. Therefore, with the help of some professional consultants, Li Hua and several of her subordinates (played by KK and Daniel Tan) start adopting a series of creative tactics to attract money lenders and practice hilarious methods to pressure the money-lenders to repay in a non-violent way. However, Li Hua’s plan of “restructuring” her triad meets with obstacles and opposition from the majority of the conservative elders in both her own triad and rival triad.

At the brighter end of the world, Mr. Fang (played by Mark Lee) is a kind-hearted dance instructor who is slightly sissy in character. Fate has it that Mr. Fang runs into Li Hua on numerous occasions by chance. Since Li Hua’s mother has been pressuring her to get married, Li Hua decides to force Mr. Fang to marry her. Surprisingly, Mr. Fang agrees to it, wanting to prove his masculinity. Though finding it hard to accept the fact that Li Hua is a triad head, Mr. Fang approves of her effort to minimize the use of violence. Subsequently, he offers to help Li Hua out by introducing creative ways to reduce violent methods of debt collection.

Yes, a very interesting storyline...

Review courtesy of Wikipedia cuz' I'm just too damn lazy to write my own synopsis

Screenshots of the movie:

Okay..now for the review....

I have to say as a person who really enjoyed Jack Neo's previous works, I found this one rather disappointing. Gasp. Yes, it's true. This movie spells "FLOP".

No doubt there were many laugh out loud scenes,(mostly featuring the effeminate Mr. Fang), but there were also the parts that failed to deliver. Dear Mr. Jack Neo, when you're trying to have a funny effeminate character, try not to overdo it. He may just start to get on the audiences' nerves. Also, I found it rather weird that they had to incorporate comedy into the violence, yea, I know it's called slapstick but this isn't like your usual Saturday morning Tom and Jerry cartoon. There was blood, lots of blood, and yet they could still try to make getting hit by a durian in the face for two consecutive times....funny. Isn't that kinda like brit humour? At least I found Shaun of the Dead tolerable, no,wait, bad example-that was a helluva good movie.

Also...they had this weird animation scenes in between the fights. It was probably meant to make the movie look comical, I don't know, I just thought it looked kinda out of place. -_-''

Other than that, I couldn't ignore the computer graphics for the movie, it wasn't BAD but, well, it still looked fake enough to make me twitch in my seat. Another thing I can't stand about a movie is low budget graphics. Sure we can't compare with Hollywood, but at least...I think it's wise to just spend a little bit more money on the computer graphics!! I'm sorry if I'm asking too much from a movie but I would have tolerated the graphics if I found the movie decent enough overall.

On the plus side, the movie's leading lady(Fann Wong) is COOL. Seriously, you should see her whoop some Ah long ass! Lolz, Fann Wong's now my favourite Mediacorp actress!XD Also, you'll see a familiar face from " Just follow law" in the movie. I'm not gonna give out any spoilers, so go find out yourself! XP The action scenes were pretty decently cheorographed too. In the movie, there are also some catchy songs about Ah long's ,in fact, there are enough songs to make the movie a musical! Okay, the show's pretty entertaining, but I still found it disappointing.

That's how I feel anyway, but don't just take my word for it! Go watch the movie for yourself if you doubt my views...haha. I'm sorry if I offended anyone by sounding like a total prick, but this is what I really think about this movie. The good news is, I haven't given up hope in Jack Neo!! Hopefully he'll do better next time.

Here's the trailer, enjoy!:

Food for thought!

We decided to go Swensen's recently. In case the name might seem foreign to you, it's a family restaurant that originated from San Francisco. Well, since I moved to college, I wanted to try it since the very first day. Unfortunately, I heard a lot of people saying it's pricey.. **open purse*... doubt I can afford it without blowing my budget.

As yesterday was our housemate's (Tsu Fei) b'day, we decided to splurge for once (well, maybe a lot of times already =.=).

Here's a short review on Swensen's ^^
See the atmosphere of the restaurant..

A nice place for family dining

When I opened the menu, my mind was blown away. Everything looks spectacularly fabulously good. (So is the price). God knows how long I stared at the menu especially the dessert section.

After a long time, I finally decided on what to order...
The first meal to arrive was Tsu Fei's and her boyfriend's.

Chicken Chop / Fish and Chips
Looks scrumptiously good XD

And the next dish was the Hawaiian Pizza me and Pei shared.
I dunno what in the hell me and Pei thinking. We just ate around 2 hours ago. Temptation really kill.

Cost RM 15.90. =.=" The size of 1 personal pizza at Pizza Hut which can get for RM 8.
Here's my opinion on the pizza. I prefer Pizza Hut's one more. Don't be fooled by appearance. It tastes different from usual pizza, cause of the strong cheese smell. Some people might like it, but it definitely doesn't cater to my taste buds. Try it if you like exotic taste I guess...

I can't believed I managed to finish the pizza. My stomach at this point was 95% full. Then I remembered, I ordered dessert... *dies*

Prepare to get all mouth-watering ^^

Coit Tower
The ice cream is Swensen's brand and really creamy, milky and sinfully good *I'm gonna put on at least 5kg after this >_>*. It will be better if I'm not so muddle headed eating it when I'm nearly full. I didn't manage to finish it, and was staggering while leaving the restaurant, bloated beyond limit.

And here's what Pei ordered.

Chocolate Creamy Fudge Sundae

Conclusion: Go Swensen's for the best desserts in town!!!

Tip.. for girls, it's best to go with boyfriends, first you won't overeat on desserts and gain lotsa weight and you can force your boyfriends to eat the remains XD

For any of you want a suggestion on what to order that is economically affordable, here is it..

It's free of charge XD

The Otaku's Room

This blog post is inspired by singaporean blogger, Xia Xue's latest post: "The Princess Room".

Hola, this is Pei speaking! Before I start out with today's post, Betsy and I wanna give a shout out to our housemate-Tsu Fei: "Happy Birthday to you!!!" Yessss, it's her birthday today! She's the best house mate one can hope for. *SNIFF* Everyone please give her a round of applause!!*clap clap clap*

Okay, today I shall rant about my room. Not that it's a good model of an otaku's room, nope, not even close; but I think it's sounds better than "the princess room".

After SPM reunion

On Saturday, we met up with some old Malaccan friends (all ex-ijc students!) ....at "Malacca's Pavilion..": Mahkota Parade...

The ultimate loitering sanctuary for Malaccans..

As usual, I was KIN...DA late for the appointment. However, by 11.45a.m, everyone had arrived. And so,we decided to have lunch at Sushi King! XD

Here are embarrassing evidence of us cam-whoring in Sushi King!! Muahahha!:

Advertising for Yakult 1!!
(From left: Melissa-girl that's taking a leave from her job at Genting, Pui Xiang-my "younger sister" a.k.a. pisang a.k.a stupitgirl, Betsy)

Advertising for Yakult 2!!
(From left: Yoke Wan-my dad, me, Jee Hui-Chinese girl that just returned from NS, now better known as Nurul XD)

Yoke Wan thinking about something really deep. (Seems like it anyway...)

After finishing our meals,we QUICKLY left Sushi King. Hopefully the people there won't recognise us the next time we go back..haha...we just have this weird tendency to embarrass ourselves in public whenever we go out in a group...yea, bummer.

Oh, and the cam whoring doesn't end there!!

Betsy and Melissa trying to be models?? (Wah...you can still see the price tags hanging from the glasses...you peoplez are bad influence to little kids...)

Super blur and retarded looking group picture(oops...Betsy's face is not in there...)

We walked all over Mahkota, cracking jokes, taking pictures and sharing our experiences from the past 3 months while we were at it. By 3pm, everyone had said goodbye and went off.

So...here's a message to my dear friends:

I'm not gonna say "friendship forever" cause I hate the cliche-ness of it. >8(
But even if we go onto different paths someday, I hope we can meet again , and be able to put our worries behind us, and hang out together like the good old days. Let this memories forever be in our hearts, and let this star be our guiding light, connecting us always...

~from your eternally random friend, Shwu Pei. (See y'all in April!)

P/S: Is blogger being an idiot or is it just me??? This post took almost two hours for me to post because the photos upload so slowly...#@$%&*....
